gf calls me and asks me to collect her and the kids from the supermarket, so i head off to collect them, on the way back i get pulled over, they took me into the back of the police car, and they start going on saying its illegal to have 5 passengers in a car, anyway i thought it would be a case of a seatbelt fine and that would be it, but she said im giving you 3 points and a £60 fine for unsuitible use of a motor vechile (code 200) surely this is not right, i have been doing a bit of research and it comes up that its only a fineable offence for over crowding.
i was just wondering if there is anything i can do?
any info would be appreciated

no its not about getting away with it,its about the fact that they have twisted the offence from over crowding which is just a fine,to a pointable offence..

Cramming that many people into a car is a bit stupid on many levels. Especially having a baby in the front & then folk in the back with no belts on, U dont need to go into detail what would happen if you were to crash.

i think the points is fair enough whether it correct to the law or not i think you got off lightly - if someone had crashed into or you'd crashed at least one of the kids would be dead....
+ its impossible for your girlfriend not to be wearing a seatbelt but all the kids to be wearing one safely...
i'd liked to add i'm not a grandad being all righteous etc, but things like this fuck me off + you want to contest it....

its to be expected remember your a motorist therefore your a criminal. i remember when i was a kid and it was quite acceptable to put 5 of us in the back of the car

Must of been a while ago you were a kid then either that or you were brought up in India because im almost middle age & as far as I know its never been looked upon as acceptable to put 5 people in the back of a car........especially not kids!!

3 points is getting off lightly tbh. If you had had to stop in a hurry you would probably be having to watch a small box be lowered into the ground because of you!
