Looks like the smoothed out the indents that you get if you over tighten the arch bolts...

correct
when the arches were first colour coded by past owner they were slightly to tight, pulling the arch plastic in

true but i always skim with fibreglass just to be sure, if not just fibreglass, i mix fibreglass with abit of filler and it works great

If you have taken the time to get the plate the right shape you shouldn't need any fibreglass though.....

thank you and then you dont have the 2 different fillers in there to contract and expand in the hot/cold etc
in the real world of bodywork there is not need for fibreglas filler except on fibreglass panels.
when we weld joints on 1/4s we dont f/glass them so why should a tailgate plated over need f/glass
will be no sinkage etc as long as the plate is welded solid instead of just tacked and flush with the surrounding panel work as opposed to a plate set in behind..

But that all means you have to take more time over a job
I'm glad that there are people out there who do proper jobs still

i would rather do my job to the best fo my ability rather than fuck it, itll do rightly..
doesnt take that much extra time either. killer is when doing plating work like handles welding the door skins solid is a fucker as it wrecks the door and you end up with a huge repair..
