I quite like the idea of a GTV coupe like this -

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_popup.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=block&sort=3&hassearched=Y&make=ALFA+ROMEO&min_pr=3000&source=0&model=GTV&max_pr=6000&miles=100&agerange=3&mileage=&postcode=fk3+9dh&variant=&bodyid=0&trim=&fuelid=0&colour=&transmissionid=1&keywords=&ukcarsearch_full.x=23&ukcarsearch_full.y=12&start=1&distance=100&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200707271138515

but probably a 2L & a bit newer.

Be sensible and buy cars that dont depreciate no matter how mundane they are. Alfas unfortunately depreciate really bad

i.e BMW 325I sports etc etc

GTV are deffo asking for troubel changing the spark plugs are a nightmare to change on the v6 and a visit to the dealer for a an inspection can often turn into a £700 bill without batting an eyelid......

I bought a E30 once...it fell to bits. I think running a 4L bmw for 3 months would cost most of what he makes on them!
