http://www.worldcarfans.com/rsslink.cfm/article/2070226.006/fiat/fiat-grande-punto-abarth-revealed

quote: The car on show in Geneva is equipped with a 1.4 Turbo petrol engine that delivers 150 bhp at 5500 rpm, boosted to 155 bhp by the adoption of 98 RON petrol. What is more, thanks to a booster kit, a version with twice as much power as the basic version (180 bhp) will soon be available. This is a revival of a tradition from the past: for example, the Fiat 500 of 1958 delivered 13 bhp at 4000 rpm with a top speed of 85 km/h, while the Fiat 500 Abarth of the same year delivered 26 bhp at 5000 rpm and a top speed of 118 km/h
What happened to the 200+bhp twin turbo monster they were meant to be doing?!
And the rally version

The Abarth should of looked like the rally one but with no graphics, roof vent or rear spoiler. Then it would of been sweet!
Oh and more power

If it looks like the top one great, why have they not put the same engine as what the Corsa VXR has got in it?

D'oh, no 2.0 engine? There is enough room in the engine bay for a small block V8........

I prefer the look of this too. I saw a regular Punto with the Abarth kit the other week and they look spot on.

As with the ordinary punto the front end does look its the rear that lets it down i think.

If it had had the rally car wide arches and 2.0 turbo engine I would of been down the Fiat dealership ordering 5 of them

We will have to wait until sowhere between the 8th and 18th of March to see what is really going on...
Seems strange thatthe Sporting has 130bhp and the Abarth only has 150bhp. I say only, but actually that's going to be a pretty quick hatch. Though the rivals all have more.

This is more like it!
quote: Insiders have told whatcar.com in the past that an even hotter version of the Punto with over 200bhp - maybe even an outrageous 240bhp - 2.4-litre engine is in the pipeline.
The press release for the Geneva cars confirms something faster is coming, saying that the 1.4-litre models are 'Abarth's first interpretation of the Grande Punto', and that 'other models will be involved later'.
Nicknamed the Puntograle (after the famous Delta Integrale from sister company Lancia), this scorching supermini with over 200bhp is likely to feature a four-wheel drive system.
