After watching that "real life" thing on TV the other day they was all saying the test is too easy. I started learning with my mum on my birthday, 8th october, had 4 proper lessons and booked my test on 16th november and passed with 2 minors (both approaching a juction too fast) I think its far to easy and needs to be changed. I had a new driver drive straight into the side of me the other day and she just drove off! But pulled her over further down the road and shed only just passed. Do you think its too easy?
This isnt a dig at sam-smith either, that was just unfortunate, i am lucky coz nerves dont seem to get to me.

no i dont think its too easy but they arent teaching the required skills.
they spend too much time fannying about with reverse parks etc, they need to introduce motorway lessons and fast road, as well as teaching realistic methods of dealing with roundabouts.
I also dont think it matters what they teach on driving tests, the attitude once passed will always be the same no matter what you teach them

No its not too easy just becuase u passed your test now, you wouldnt be saying that if you was still learning, i failed my test becuse of 2 stupid things!! 1.) i was doign 50 instead of 60 on the dual carrigeway in terenchal (sp?) rain, nd apprantly i made a car slow down (which imo is a load of b******s), i would of understood if i jumped a red light or 2 or carried on at a zebra crossing when people are still crossing it the other side the examiners are w*****s!!!!

tbh I dont think the driving test represents the real world (i.e. You cant always drive at the full speed limit - sometimes you need to take caution). And all this two hand on the wheel at all times non-sense. They must know that goes straight out the window.
And yes steve, maybe some motorway exp would be good, but tbh I found my first motorway experience to be similar to dual carriage way driving but with one extra lane

the examiners are not wankers, youre annoyed because you failed and trying to pass the blame. yes they have quotas etc, but 9 times out of 10 they do actually know what theyre doing, like any other professional job, and cant let someone on the road that they think is unsafe

will be after the test, and still not compulsory, motorway driving should be compulsory for the test, saying that ONLY allowed by an approved driving instructor when he thinks they are ready, not on your 2nd lesson with your mum sat in the passengar seat

IMO one 1hour lesson on the motorway wont prepare you for proper motorway driving anyway, last year i did 20k miles, about 80% was motorway driving and ill admit to being totally novice still to it, you cant expect the unexpected. problem is tho, too many people dont know how to use motorways properly

Real life driving test would be more helpful, tbh i think the test is very difficult, so many pointless things to remember that you are never going to use again, within a week of driving i had forgotten how to do most thigs "properly" but was a much better driver.
I would say introducing a skid pan test would be good, teaching people how to control a car rather than going on about observation so much.

i didnt say otherwise but why do they have to teach one or the other more so, why not both.....eg have a minimum time before someoen can sit their test from when they begin learning

People learn quicker than others, and are better than others at first... I don't think the test is that easy TBH... The things i got failed for was stupid!
I also think the test is stupid... it only teaches you the basic parts of driving, i never got told what to do if and when i approached a situation that i had never been in before, such as wheels locking up etc... and never once did i get told to not brake hard around a corner...
I have learnt more driving alone in the past 5 months or so then i did when i was having all my lessons and test...
You learn new things, situations etc everyday!
