If I wasnt so lazy I'd probaly code a Name and Shame database for everyone as the seems to be a reoccuring theme of people getting ripped off, The database would state the persons details and a description of the scam and what has happened. It would then be searchable to find out if the person your dealing with is a known scammer and allow people to join together over many car communitys to build up evidence by allowing people to report there experiences of said spammer.
Anyone think this is a good idea?

There's a thread in classifieds, a database is a bit overkill.

It isnt community wide tho, Im sure the same scammer are running similair scams on many forums... if he is using the same number but different names or something like that you could search it and find many similair cases.

We have
yeah, the 'problem sellers' thread in classifieds.
no need for anything else really, would be a waste of time for the amount of times it happens

Posting peoples details on the internet without their permission is illegal, even if they are fraudsters.

Well because you would be storing personal contact/address information on people without their permission.

Not her, it was someone else. We're licensed to hold certain data, they didn't really have a leg to stand on tbh

Just adhere to #1 of trade policy and you should be ok.... or if not least you have alot of details to go on.
1. Make sure you get all the personal details for the person that you are dealing with i.e. full name, address and phone numbers. Landline numbers are generally easier to trace than mobiles although a mobile number is preferable to only having electronic contact (ie. email/u2u).

Remeber i sent something to some for free, it turned up, but either he lost it, or it wasnt taken from the envelope. Not my fault and he still went off on a willy wonka. For FREE!!! I paid postage too.

It should be mandatory to provide a Land Line telephone number when signing up. Then if something goes wrong, do an eBay stylee request of details.
