I've just bought a set from the new 2007 range (suppose to curl your hair just as good as straightening it) The irons look EXACTLY the same as the old ones, I've compared them side by side and they look exactly the same. They're supposed to have a more rounded barrel but I can't tell the difference. I paid £25 extra to get the new model. Does anyone else have the new one's? I'm begining to think they've sent me the wrong version but I'm not sure

Jade, they are slightly different, the barrell is deeper and more rounded, but probably only just enough to justify to trading standards the extra £££
Both will curl exactly the same, i use mine to curl and my friend has bought the new shape and there is absolutely no fking difference in the curling!!!!

Honestly I've measured them side by side and I can't see any difference at all. I'm going to email them and see what they say

Jade, my hairdresser couldn't tell whether she was using the old or the new ones on my hair last time. If they bleep and switch themselves off after 30 mins, they are the new ones.

Thanks Shelly, at least that'll let me know if they've sent me the right ones. I've not switched them on yet, I'll try them when I get home
I've emailed them telling them its a con, and asked them to explain what difference there is in the style and size of the irons.

They've just sent me this reply...............
Dear Jade,
The only viewing difference in the New GHD Styler is that the outside barrell of the styler is more rounded for a more definded curl.
All other aspects are internal, i.e. If the GHDs are left unattended for 30 minuted they will automatically turn themselves off; The are multi-voltage for use in the USA and most other International countries; They contain a 'Safety-Shiver', this prevents any internal damage in cold conditions; You are also covered by a 2 year warranty.
Kind regards
I've wrote back asking them to tell meexactly what difference there is in the roundness of the barrell

Yesh I do already have GHD's and heated curlers but the curlers don't hold a curl long enough, so I thought these new GHD's would do the trick
I've just recieve another reply............
Dear Jade,
The New GHD Styler is completley rounded on the outside, where as the Mk3 Styler is more flat at the top and bottom. The New GHD Styler would have came in a big black box and would have contained a DVD. Please advise.
Kind regards
I did get the DVD etc, so it looks like they are the new style I've written back saying they are a con. I've also asked them to tell me how many complaints they've had about this!!!

I had the pink ones until my dog snapped them whilst running down the stairs little bugger
I have some new ones now I got for xmas with a ghd carry bag an allsorts with it.
The new ones are the same their the same heat an that they curl hair the same as my sister has these the only good thing is about them turning off after 30mins but why would you leave them alone for 30mins still switched on anyway?

Just posting in this thread has done nothing to your gay rating - it was already off the scale before.....

surely the amount of curl you can achieve is governed by how well you can use the straighteners and not a change in design.
Sounds like a con to me but then it's like everything else in this world.
