Exactly what it says
If you crash into a third party, it pays for damage to their car/house/railings.
and Fire and Theft is pretty self explanatory

If you're fully comprehensive, it means you can claim for damage on your can, belongings and self. If you are TPFT, you can't.
You insurance company will pay out:
1) If you hit their car, them, their house, walls etc etc etc
2) If you car somehow catches fire
3) If your car is stolen.

The only thing is that I'm not sure on your no claims discount build up when you're only TPFT. Also, when you're under 25 and are fully comp, you normally have a ludicrously high Young Drivers Excess before they pay anything. My girlfriends with Churchill was £400.
If you decide on Fully Comp and the quote is really cheap, check the Young Drivers excess.

insurance is just too expensive for young drivers on their own policy nowadays! just going to go with my mum for a bit then go on my own when it comes to renewal!

Especially if insurance companies look at it this way, which I'm sure they do.
You pass your test on your 18th birthday. You go on your mum/dads policy till your 22, not building up your NCB. You then go to get insurance on your own. You'll have 4 years driving experience, yet 0 NCB, it'll look like you've claimed every year for the past 4 years.

because in a year, your insurance prices will be the same, and you still won't be any better off.
get on your own policy ASAP, I didn't now I'm 20 and only have 1 ncb, which means I can't insure much still...
It might be expensive, but it's worth it in the long run.

Deano, they don't do that you have to declare the claims, and they'd see that there were none, but the price would still be high.

Also, if you are the main driver of the car, and you are insured as a named driver, it's called fraud.

Alright mate, try to get it on ya own name if poss. I tried puttin it on mums name but companies refused as car is done up and they knew that it wasnt her been main driver. I am now paying £2650 for a 1.2 Clio and thats with pass plus! If ya car is standard then you should be able to get away with it.
They are clamping down on it though and can refuse to pay out in a crash. Hope this helps.
