if not how about getting it from cash machine or do a balance transfer into your account?
ive never heard of banks providing that service to be honest

They might want ID, they might need to know in advance for that sort of cash, I know they did when I withdrew £3.5k in cash 
Of course, it depends on your credit limit

You pay extra intererst and there is a charge for cash advances on a credit card. A loan is porbably a better option. They give anyone a loan these days in a matter of seconds, so it's easier as you don't even need to get dressed to get one.

The bank will give you the cash..They will phone the credit card company etc to make sure it is ok..Take extra prrof etc with you...

should be I have done it with 1k from a card before, took about 10 mins but all was ok...
They will still phone the credit card section of the bank and that, but should be fine.
