I'm doing a bit of programming in response to some users reporting latency in the pages, need to restructure a bit of data so you may see a slow down. I expect this will last for 30 minutes but the site will still be available in this time - just a bit slower.

This is not so serious. Post Distribution is a bit slow with that many posts, and its slowing down other stuff. I can either remove it in which case people won't be able to poke fun at those with large OD percentages, or optimise the data, keep it and continue poking fun.

I would say keep it. The site is really quick anyway! Good work on the improvements.

They wouldn't, its just that the slow downs wouldn't occur. They only happen while the offending query is running and only then if you try and post at the same time. Its quite rare but on these numbers of users someone usually notices.

I think the site runs fine (excluding tonight) & thats me on a very low spec Compaq Presario thats almost as old as Mav.

I think the only thing that needs improving is the search function because using it is murder.

Funny you should say that, the search function is also something which is causing some delays.

There's also some IP tracking stuff causing it but thats not such a worry as there are very few people that see it.

I'm after fixing it at the moment rather than loosing features.

No they're no bigger to download but its more difficult to make them, hence the slow down server side.
