...my dad works for the council in stockton (head of parks and highways) and they have council owned private car parks for the public to use.

for 11 months there has been a rover 25 parked in one local to my house

its SORN as i checked with DVLA, and my dad checked at work and the owner lives over 100 miles away and its not been reported stolen

its parked on council owned land, but the council wont pay to have it moved as it will cost them.

am i right in thinking i am able to apply for the log book and if the owner does not object then its mine? its clearly been dumped and no one wants it

its a 2001 reg 1.4 16v.....must be worth a shot?

You can claim salvage rights but I would then try and change the reistration of the vehicle to stop unwanted beatings.

When you say you checked with the DVLA do you mean an HPI check?

as long as no one comes forward as owner and the tax has run out you can apply to the dvla for a new V5. But you have to get it moved and started.

I dont rember where I read this but it was either on PF or the RSOC website but someone left an S1 RS Turbo behind a friends industiral unit when he went travelling, the car was a bit of a dog but he loved it non the less. His mate didnt even notice it went missing till he got back.

He later found who the new registered keeper was and put him in hospital then later torched the car as he was not legally entitled to it. Bit crazy dont you think?

cant see anyone getting too mad over a 01 plate rover 1.4

registering it at a different address to be on safe side

plan to either strip it, buy a new set of locks/keys ecu or put a new engine in with new keys

just toying with ideas, had 4 free cars last year lol, even got the same one twice after i sold it the guy gave me it back for free once the tax had ran out lol

Bonnets can usually be popped fairly easy if you know what your doing.

Interesting point Fad, but
1) Some mate he was not realising a car had gone missing that he was storing for a mate
2) Not sure on the legalities behind it all TBH. I know being the registered keeper on the V5 document, doesnt make you the legal owner of the car, as that resided with the person who payed the money for it.
