Asda always lead price reductions round here! Doesn't take long for Shell to follow!

I'm sorry but I think that's bollox, if it was shite and did the damage people claim it did then the supermarkets would have thousands of claims from owners. It comes from the same refineries as the other garages.

I bet an exec from shell or BP started that one off as the supermarkets were taking sales away with cheaper prices. They can afford to lower the prices as their main business is shopping and thet recoup the money elsewhere.

incorrect. many times we have had super market fuel tested by a company called Morris Lubricants. Mainly to prove that supermarket fuel can be responsible for stickign valves and egr faults.

supermarket fuel is not treated with as many additives as more expensive fuel. this is a fact

Granted I won't argue the fact that it doesn't have as many additives but I wouldn't go as far and say it was shite. I've noticed no notable difference in car/bike performance, economy from years in switching between the two.

I do try to use VPower or BP ultimate in the LCR but that is because I can't find the Tesco 99 ron anywhere locally. If I found it I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

Like I say I've never heard of anyone trying to blame supermarket fuel contributing to the demise of a car engine other than a possible dodgy batch/tank. That said I've seen this happen with normal garages that have had a poor quality delivery. water contamination or incorrectly filled tank etc..

the common problem we have is sticking valves. carbon deposits on valves stems casuing misfires etc. EVERY one used to be from supermarket fuel. reason being they didnt have a certain additive in they aided in the breakdown of carbon. i aint arguin if it improves power etc, but cheap fuel can contribute to engine problems.

I know Sainsburys get their petrol from BP.

Theres no asda petrol stations near me Sainsburys and tesco usually fight with the fuel prices though.

tankers have 5 separate chambers though.
some places may use same fuel as tesco or shell or whatever.
but some supermarkets use cheap fuel that has less additives.

My dad used to use Sainsbury's Super Unleaded in the M3 - it used to pink and didn't have very good throttle response. He took a mechanic out in the car and typically, it didn't happen. The mechanic asked what fuel, naturally dad told him and he said try V Power.

He run the car right down into the red before filling up with V Power and hasn't had any problems what so ever, ever since he started using it.

High performance engines, yes, may be not on my 12v. Having said that, I always use BP as there is 2 garages on the way to Uni AND I have a Nectar card

i think it doesn't matter if it's a performance engine or not, cleaner fuel will make it run better. i always use vpower now as there is so many shell garages near my house / work and 4 local to my gf's house. not used any different fuels in the 106 but in the cupra you could notice a difference between normal and vpower, especially when going from vpower to normal.
