Hi there, im new here!! so nice to meet ya all

Basically looking to buy a wee corsa in the near future. So far ive owned a 1.1 Seicento sporting and a 1.0 Suzuki Swift.

Now its time for uni, but as im staying at home i need a car to nip up and down in.

Its maybe a 60 mile trip a day up and down to uni from my house, now question is do i buy a TD corsa or a 1.6.

Love the idea of a 1.6, as they are quick, and can have alot of fun in them. Worried about fuel consumption?

TD i think would be my other option, but finding one seems to be a nightmare? and i take it they are pretty slow?

No problems insuring either.

So any help at all appreciated, as im completely stuck!

Cheers

In that case go for a 1.5 TD, cheaper tax and far better fuel economy.

Nope, 1.4 and 1.8.

Stear clear of all older Vauxhall TD engines. All totally pants, no matter what Mr PetherIshagdieselsdick says. They were ok at the time, but go for the 1.6. It doesn't drink that much juice really.

But then if your worried about cash, also go for a 1.4 16v as it'll save u tax and insurance. But once u've got a 1.4, u'll wish you had the 1.6 anyway

VXR, thats exaclty what i was worried about! compromising with a 14 and wishin i had the 16!!!

i always had the impression the old TD's were quite dated slow and not very good!

suppose if i got the 1.6 and just take it easy on the right foot it will be fine. Most miles up and down to uni are motorway anyway.

and the 1.6 has that bit more track potential...summit for a bit of weekend fun!

get a 1.5td, then put the 1.7td (isuzu) engine out of a cav in it, Fit the turbo from the Isuzu Trooper 3.1 and whap up the boost. Then you have a fairly quick little diesel.

I currently own a 1.6 sport corsa b, and use it to go to and from uni, has never let me down and is ok on fuel consumption i have found.

However, with such a high insurance category that can oftwn change things, group 10 iirc

I have owned the 1.6 and it is quite good on fuel, like any car the harder you drive it the worse it will be...

Not bad insurance at group 9.,.And nippy too....Good all round car for your needs...

And these folk saying 106 this and 106 that, remember where you are..do you know?
