Right I've just finished another canvas, I'm going to stick some on ebay and see what happens. I've never sold anything on there before, bought loads, but always been to lazy to sell stuff
Whats the best way to go about it? Can I put up a starting price? Is it advisable to have a reserve price? Help pleeeeeeze

The higher the starting price then the more it costs to list it.
My tip would be start the auction at £0.99 (which is the cheapest you can) and set the auction for 7 days.
If on the 6th day you arent happy with the price you can simply end the auction with no obligation to sell it to the highest bidder (if there is one)
This way each item you list doing this will cost only 15p to list
Merry Christmas

Make sure you state clearly that you "ReServe the right to end the auction early" otherwise can cause problems .

Put the BIN at £60, Start at £40, Reserve at £50
It'll cost you a little more, but at least you'll get a decent wedge for the canvas...
Probably still be under a quid to list with all that

I didn't know that you could end the auction, thought that once you had it up for sale there was no going back, thanks for that advice

When you go into "My eBay" and view all the items which are currently for sale, there is a drop down box which among other things says "end item". You then have to choose a reason, one being "The item is no longer for sale"

Don't bother with a reserve, costs you and will put people off.
If its going stupidly low, and you don't wanna sell it for that, then have a mate bid for it last minute

Why would a reserve put someone off if there's a BIN? they'll know where the reserve is...
Also, it's not the kind of thing that you'd be put of by, if you're bidding on a canvas, you like it, a reserve won't affect that.
Make sure you over-estimate postage, to be on the safe side.

What are you roughly wanting for the piece(s)?
Personally i would start the bid at 99p as it does attract more people to start with. Like has been mentioned if it's not going too well get someone to bid for you (for the price you would like) and you never know if there is a bid on it then they might be willing to pay just more than your friend has bid at...
It's not the rght way to do it but i have done it once or twice when a couple of things i were selling should have DEFINATELY been getting more!
I heave heard of people getting banned though for bidding on the same computer so just play it safe and get someone else to bid on it
Make sure you put a picture of it up aswell, thats another 15p and if you add design lister to it (basically how everything is going to be displayed, with backgrounds etc) that usually helps just because the auction looks more tidy and well presented! That costs another 7p, so overall you are looking at 37p for a nice listing and there is much more you can do to make it stand out more!
Just go onto the selling form now and have a play around with it...

May aswell just put no reserve really, if you made it just to flog on just see what it fetches, no point putting people off with reserves and buy it now's. If it gets a nice amount you know how much you can expect from them, if you don't get much just decide its not worth it.

You want to cover what it cost you to make + postage & packing (Remember you will have to package it really well so that might cost a few quid) so start it at a bit more than that!! If it cost £20 to make start it at £25................

Yes the posting and packing is one of the things that has put me off the idea of selling them tbh. I have visions of them arriving at there destinations in bits
Although I have a little friend at the Courier Company to help me out

they'll be fine, bubble wrap, plenty of paper, and some stiff card, send it by courier or recorded, and it's insured.

I think I'll just stick this one on with a couple of pics for now, no fancy page, no mention of me being an artist blah blah blah, and see how it goes

adding the fancy stuff takes seconds... u just have to chooae what you like!
if you have an account just click sell and ur away (might have to fill something out but shouldn't take too long)!
If its easier write it all in word first and choose a nice font and colour etc and just paste it in
