I hate them!

i was driving through my town, no one on the roads at all, drove around a mini roundabout maybe touching 30mph, no more though as its a sharp bend, and their were 2 coppers in a van around the corner, they followed me and pulled me over, next thing the younger copper(looked around 25) jumps out of van and storms over to my window and this is the convo we had.

young copper "Get out, get out now and stand on the pavement"

YC "what speed is it on here"

Me "30mph"

YC "and what speed were you doing"

Me "i dont know as i was keeping my eyes on the road (as you should), but i was maybe touching 30mph, no more though"

YC "are you getting funny with me, coz if you are we will thouroughly check over your car and do you for the slightest thing!"

Me "you can if your that bored"

YC " right get in your car then(i go and get in car)"

bare in mind i have morettes
YC "side lights on(their fine), dipped beam(their fine), main beam(i have one inner lamp as a cold air feed)

YC "erm, oh look, you have only got one main beam light"

Me "your quite right i do" (all 4 lamps have main beam lights dont they??)

Me "but im 98% sure thats not illegal"

YC "right, indicators"

YC "where are they (in a cocky voice)"

Me " you can clearly see them behind the front grille"

YC "well that's illegal and wont pass m.o.t"

Me "im not sure, it could be possible they wont, but ill get them checked tomorrow and see"

(determined to find something he can do me for)

Funny part-

YC "right, pop your bonnet"

YC "Oh look what we have here (in his cocky voice)"

Me "Yeah its an engine"

YC very fly says "and does your insurance know you have a 2ltr engine fitted?"

Me actually laughing at him "errrrrrrrrm, well they would if i actually had a 2ltr engine fitted!"

YC knowing hes made a prick of himself "erm, well, well whats that then"

Me "look, if i was to tell you what engine it was, you still wouldnt know if it was actually that, its a 1.4 by the way"

YC thinking its still an XE "well 1.4 corsa's are 8v and this isnt 8v!"

Me "your actually right, its not 8v, its 16v (short silence, then just before he's about to talk) and thats because it a corsa sport which come standard as 16v!"

YC "erm, well, do you even have insurance"

Me "yes i do, im not a dick head" (told me off for swearing haha)

YC "right, well you have got a week to sort your car out and we are comming to visit you, and if its not upto par we will lift it, on your way"

Me " well my car wont be their as its in the bodyshop being re-sprayed this week"

YC "and will you be telling your insurance that your changing the colour?"

Me "well if you want me to, ill tell them its going from dull black........to normal black"

Me "okie dokie, good day, nice chatting with you" in a sarky voice"

what a power crazy little prick!
i felt like punching him in his little square fat head!

thing is, he didnt run my details, ask me my name, my age, anything.
he just asked where i lived, he didnt even take my reg ffs!

i know their are good cops, but these little sh*te's give them a bad name.

anyone else get cops like this?

is it illegal to have my indicators behind my front grille?

that is all, rant over lol

You were cheeky from the outset.

I'm surprised they didn't do you for something and you would have most likely deserved it.

Thats like flicking a switch to turn the copper into "arse" mode. Dont ever claim to know more about the law or good practice than they do, even if it's true.

at the end of the day, they must have pulled me out of pure boredom or thought, right we'll do this boy racer or w/e.
he didnt even take my details or reg or anything, whats that all about??

Well just think, for every lad with a done up car that's all legit like yours, they must pull a dozen that aren't.

Unfortunately, people like you and the majority of CS are in a minority of drivers who try and make sure we're all legal, but until we're pulled, there's no way to really tell us apart from the tossers.

yeah thats true.

the only thing that could possibly be illegal is my front indicators behind the grille, but im going to m.o.t place tomorrow to see what they say, if they are illegal, ill move them(which i was going to do anyways)

surely he should have given me one of those note things where i have 7 days to get it checked?

think this is illegal? i know a few poeple on here have them in the same place, you can see them clearly.

it's legal.

the headlights probably aren't though, i think they have to be symmetrical.

as for getting stopped, don't drive around at 1 am.

Why shouldn't he drive about at 1am ? ? ... I have no faith in police, they've got nothing better to do - Like catch proper criminals they choose to take the cheap way out and pull motorists.

Jazzer, if you're driving round at 1am, it's suspicious. Also, like Ash said, for every person they pull over who is legal, they pull over considerably more people who aren't, which makes it worth while.

To be fair, you can't blame them for pulling you over. It's not like the car doesn't stand out.
