Unless he's going to a track or you have a very local piece of flat clear ground buy him the moster truck one.

I had a touring car one like the skyline but if you haven't got a specific place to use it it isn't very practical at all.

The monster truck he can use anywhere.

Thats what im thinking John, the truck one would be better for where im going to use it.....the other one would get smashed to bits in no time, 80mph though

I told him he'll kill someone's poor unsuspecting cat or dog, if he races it up and down his street

I have 2 Touring cars and a monster truck and the touring cars are way more fun. We just take them to a little park car park.

Get a HPI RS4. They are really good. I have a standard one and a hopped up one with a .21 turbo engine, custom exhaust manifold and loads more. Full spec is crazy. That does ridiculous speeds and sounds like a small motorbike.

Yes Colin, they're really good, and replacement parts are very readily available on ebay (very handy as bits break when you crash ). My standard one is that, but with the Impreza shell and it now has alu front forks and rear shell support.

They look pretty much the same, few different bits and different shell choices. 2nd one has a faster engine, and is pull start. The first one should be rota start. Also, the first one is RTR (ready to run), the 2nd is a kit you have to build.

I'd say stick with HPI, but thats maybe just because what I know best.. the 2 you posted look good, so would depend whether you prefered to build it yourself or not.. or whether you'd prefer pull start or rota start..

Prices on the ones you found are pretty damn good.

There is also the inbetween model:

Isn't a full offroad truck, meant to be great fun..

This doesn't work very good.. lol. You can get a drift kit for the HPI RS4, but its around £90. Comes with a new chasis for mounting the engine right in the middle and other bits n bobs including proper drift tyres.. lol.
