got my test soon, and am going to be looking for insurance, it will be to insure a 1.4 16v sri, at my ripe age of 17. i know its gonna be alot, the best quote ive had is £1700 odd 3rd party, fire&theft, from confused.
i was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice cheap insurer, i remember seeing hic as recommended one. is there anyone on here with a 1.4 16v aged 17-18???
i will be 18 at the end of january. so would i be able to renew my insurance then , and hope it is cheaper?

if you use confused, go to the one which came top and get a quote direct.
1/4s are expensive to insure as at 17

I would go with elephant.
Do it all for you, then when it asks if you want to add any other drivers click yes.
Add your mum and dad. (Only as long as they have no convictions etc etc)
That should lower your amount alot. Also its a good thing to do as they may need to drive your car sometime

I was 18 in October, but ive been insured on my 1.4 16v Sport since Febuary, and passed in April.
The insurance is in my fathers name, and i am an added driver, simple fact, i cant afford to pay over 1k for insurance.
Im with Liverpool Victoria, and its around 600 quid mark for the year, TPFT, works out around 45 a month.

got my 1.4LS (not the same i know) insured for £1330 TPFT with norwich union when i was 17. if i added my girlfriend as named driver on the policy (hadnt had a driving lesson) she took it down to £800 TPFT
however this was online when NU still did TPFT online, but try giving them a ring, you may have to ask to speak to someone english though

I'd certainly recommend moneysupermarket.com, it's like confused but gives u much more to choose from. I'm with zurich through budget and they took much premium down £200 from diamond on a 1.4 sport fully comp.
It works out even better when you phone them and give them exact details, online is just an estimate.
They're really good when u need them, only took a week to get my claim through!!

DirectLine had me on the 306 for £1800 FC when I was 17 and still a learner so try them. £1700 TPFT is madness.

I've been building up my NCB with Bell, very reasonable TBH, never over £600 even with mods declared.

thats the stupidest thing I have heared Matt. quinn are useless in every aspect, customer service, sending no claims through, policies are riddled with dodgy clauses....
and dont claim because they are cheap but shit at being an insurance company
