If your local bar/club (a decent big one!) offered membership kind of packages where you got discounts on entry, drinks, etc. would you buy one?
And if so what benefits would you expect for the money? And what sort of price for a year?
Bit of a long story why Im asking, but is basically a mate of mine asking me for a few ideas/opinions!

Infact, I'd probably pay more, depending on if it was my preferred establishment.

A yearly subscription charge for 10% off drinks wouldnt appeal to me really.
Average pint when you're out say £2.50, saving a whopping 25p Granted over the course of a few nights that's a few quid saved, but not enough to make me wanna part with £50.
JR's suggestion of queue hopping would be more of an appeal, maybe a members lounge too, where you know everyone is a paid member so would "in theory" behave or be booted off membership.

No because it ends up like this in my experience...
- the nights you all want to go out e.g. big ones the membership prices don't count so you have to pay the same as non members
- queue jump is actually just a shorter queue to the main one > sometimes this does work but more often than not you still have to wait
- money off at the bar usually doesnt work because a) you either have to bring along vouchers which you can never be arsed to do let alone look a cheapskate at the bar handing over cut outs b) you're too pissed to remember/do it c) the bar staff are lazy and dont know what to do d) it takes the bar staff too long faffing about with one discounted order and another not

Maybe more of a members lounge like I suggested then. All drinks inside would be discounted, etc.

Yeah I think the discounts off entry would have to be on all nights, pointless them being on shitty nights, as wouldnt really attract more people to buy a membership.
Members/VIP type lounge sounds a good idea too. Might mean less knobs if the threat of membership being revoked is there!

That's what I was gettin at. I'd be more prone to parting with cash if I knew the scum was outside and not interupting my tasty beverage.

I guess a lot of it depends on the target audience. If you want 18-22 year olds then go with a big discount on drinks and they'll roll in wet or no. If you're after the slightly older market a queue jump and members room etc would probably be the way to go.

Exactly
Is this something i'm going to be able to take advantage of in Manchester? I'm gonna need further discount tho for being part of the brainstorming session

yeah, when we were talking one thing I mentioned was maybe different levels of membership...so one would just get you money off drinks, another money off and queue jump, etc. etc.
That way they'll attract to all ages and types of people.

Could do but it might over complicate matters.

Whichever way it happens they'd have to have some sort of membership card to get entry/discounts, so simple enough to give a different kind (colours) for whichever type they go for. Probably the easiest way that I can think of.

yeah, that'd work quite well I think.
one gets you in quicker, next gets you in quicker and 10% off, next gets you in quicker, 10% off, and into the vip room, or something.
nice and easy to sort too.

To you and me that's simple - to the general public hmm could cause problems
