Do pass plus, It'll cost you £120 and near enough knock your insurance in half. I was quoted 1400 on an L reg 1993 106 1.0 after passing my test. I did pass plus and it dropped to £711. Cant reccomend it enough!

I was the same chap, couldnt wait to start but for the sake of waiting a week to save 700 quid and i wouldnt have the car i have now (1.4 L corsa SRi) if i hadnt of done it.
Ive got a mate same age as me and basically the same circumstances(2 years experience,1 years no claims) who didnt do it and he's paying near enough 2,000 on corsa 1.2 8v just because its got a bodykit
Oh and 12v's are slow as hell, avoid as much as possible

Buy the car if its a good one, then just do bits and bobs to it till you've got your insurance down to a decent amount.
I had my 106 in september 2004 and passed december 2004, finally got driving start of 05, but i dont regret waiting one little bit

You're willing to pay nearly four times the value of the car to insure it just TPFT? That's madness.

Thats how it is for 17 year olds mate. I wish i done the pass plus, but tbh i think insurance must of just rocketed for 17 year olds, i had a 1.4 xsi 106 for my first car, £1400 through Adrian Flux tpft.

I was 17 3 years ago, and I paid £1800 Fully Comp on my 306 TD. While still learning. And the car was worth £2500. I'd never even own a car that cost more than the car to insure just third party.
