Been posting on Briskoda since i bought my VRS and a couple of owners have posted comments like...

'It had more BHP and Torque the last time i seen it'

etc etc

Now i'm assuming it's been put back to standard to sell it on but what comeback would i have with the dealer if i decide to do anything about this? Surely because it can't be detected i havn't a leg to stand on??

The passenger seatbelt is bust so it's booked in at the dealer on Tuesday..Now second gear is difficult and clunky to engage when cold so should i mention i know about the past of the car and put the shits up them so they sort the gearbox out without fuking me around with oil change etc?

That's exaclty what i'm gonna do mate

Think i'm going to insist on either a new clutch or a full gearbox inspection OR they just give me my money back.

Thing is for all i know it could have been remapped at 1000 miles then turned off at 37,000 and the clutch is fuked.Standard clutch is only rated to 280lb torque as is the flywheel.

Possibly He's from Ellesmere Port

Thing is it wouldn't bother me(that much) if i knew about it before buying or if the daft fuker had left it mapped

The history of the car is their problem not yours. They've sold you it in standard condition and therefore must offer the warrenty based on this fact. If they've had the wool pulled over their eyes when they bought the trade-in thats up to them.

Personally I would make sure that they knew that you know the history of it and you want some firm assurances in writing that failure that could be attributed to increased stress due to the remap will be taken care of as if the car were in the form in which you have bought it for all its life.

That said, they do respond well to a remap

I'm thinking if it's had a map by REVO or similiar it's just a case of getting it turned back on saving you £500

gearbox problem is probably the lnkage getting loose with use, will be likely it just needs the linkage setting up again

Sorry if this has been mentioned but get your logbook, find where the previous keeper lived, if not too far away, go up and ask him about the history of the car

if the guy before put it back to standard the dealership will have sold it as standard as it is standard.

i think the best you can hope for is some of the elements that arent usually covered by warranty, such as clutch etc, you might be able to blag them to do it

a remap wont have had hardly any detrimental effect on the car with such low mileage anywa, its not really worth getting stressed about tbh

So your saying a car running nearly 50% more power and torque say for 37,000 miles wouldn't do it any damage????

Regardless of the warrenty i was sold a car that has basically been messed with and i ain't forking out 9K for a car that after the warrenty runs out it decides to let it's clutch or engine etc etc go after it expires.

The car also only came with the remainder of the manufactuers warrenty till March.

What remap gives 50% more power

I think many cars are modded then put back to standard before there being punted, its just one of the things that goes with it being a used car. Usually however you never find this out & probably the garage knows nothing about it either!!

I dont really see where this is going to go when you go back to the dealership, best of luck though.
