hi peeps, since i've now worked like a slave for the past couple of months and sold most of the bits of my corsa, im now in a position to buy a new car *lending money of perants*
im looking into a astra 888. i was wanting to know if anyone has heard of any crap about them/thing's to look out for etc?...
what they like as a daily driver etc...
please note: not interested about how a modifed one handles, i'll be keeping it standerd.
cheers
Tom.

Good car but its just a turbo coupe underneath, and you've more choice of them for less money.

Agree with Ian TBH, you are paying a lot more money just for some extra styling which other than the wheels isn't even that nice IMO

I'd have one. As you say, you see normal turbo coupes all the time. I've never seen an 888 on the road. And i would also be happy paying 1300 to insure one

Suspension you would be changing anyway. Trim is half a job, back seats are standard. You also get a blue dash console which I personally don't like.
I'm not saying don't get one, I'm saying you'll find coupe turbos with less miles, perhaps a bit more spec for less money.

they are silly priced. But nice rare cars.
Keeping them standard is
But ian mentions coupe's can be had for half the money, few tweaks and it will be a good car to rival it for half the price.

In a way the 888 is a modified car. Also the cars didn't leave Vauxhall with the bodykit, suspension etc. They were standard coupe turbos that were converted at the 888 workshop.

I think an important answer to your question is that although they are a standard car they are no different to live with than any other modified car. This is due to a fibreglass kit tha was not built to a standard you would expect from a mass produced car maker.
You will have maintanace on body work, you will lower the car as it sits too high as standard, you will get wear on the sparco seats and the rest is pretty much standard.
So in answer to your question what are they like to own - great, fantastic but be prepared to have continual maintanice liek any other modfied car.
I am with Ian buy a coupe turbo for half the price and spec it how you like.

but on insurance terms there a standerd car, online, go through a mk 4 astra list and 888 is there...
phase 2 astra turbo with irmy kit isn't.

i'd go for a gsi turbo tbh, a mate of a mate has an 888 and i thought i'd love it, in the flesh i hated it, looks like it drove through halfords with the mechano spoiler. I really don't like the coupes and i didn't think the 888 was any different tbh, £1300 FC Who's that with???? good quote though, i pay nearly £2k for my ibiza!!!

But don't you think that an insurance company would realise this and price the premium accordingly?
