...I might be driving to the Isle of Man from sunny Luton. It's about 270 miles if not more according to AA route finder. Do you think a 12v would make it all that way?
I generally sit on the motorway at 60mph which is 3000 rpm in my car, doesn't seem to be stressing the engine but what kind of stress would it put on after such long miles.
Has anyone else done a long journey in a 12v? Would stopping every 1 hour or so do more damage (i.e. stop starting) then continously driving with minimal breaks?
I just need to know because driving will be just as pricey as flying yet driving more covenient because I can go/come back when I want.
Any help or advice on how to take the journey would be great!
Oh, and it's my Birthday today!

Just make sure everything is topped up and check tyre pressure etc. The car will do the journey.

It gets a half decent 40min to 1 hour journey everyday anyway going to Uni and back (so 2 hours in total!)
Thoughs that said it would make it, would you take more breaks more so for the car than for yourself or just stop when you want? Does 60mph/3000rpm sound about right?

i drove to norfolk broads frome not so sunny derby and my car made it
even though my car had 2 broken pistons and a oil pump blocked by bits of disitengrated valves (unbeknown to me)
it was fine at 70-90
Edit: for eel's purposes - my car had 94k on it

of course it will be fine, just give the car a good check over, oil, water, tyre pressure, spare etc.

my 1.0ltr 12V cruises nicely!!!!
i have done a 5hr straight journey in mine and it was fine. mine goes along at like 80-90 easily at like 4-4.5 k revs. Go over 90 if you hit a big down hill. But once you are at the speed you want it will sit at that speed very easily just like any other car!!
