306 1.9 TD
fairly nippy, good motorway cruiser and despite being french do seem fairly soild. a mate has had one since 2004, nothing more than a basic service once a year and it's still going strong with 109k on the clock.

My mum has a Pug 407 Turbo diesel. 1900cc and good for cruising.
She paid £1000 and its an N reg. Good mpg too once you're cruising.

60 miles to a tenner? Its amount of rpm it takes to get to high speeds that sucks
Get a golf mark 2 diesel, piss cheap as its not the most popular model and old enough for cheap insurance.

1.9 dturbo mine, had no trouble at all from mine. plus i know that worth case senario i can go get an engine and have it fitted for 500 notes. The engines are sold, its the pug electrics that lets alot of them down.

The headgaskets let them down alot and with that goes a warped or cracked head like i had. Changing the headgasket requires pretty much removing the engine.

There is a guide on here in HELP ZONE to get more power from them
Fuel is about 45-50 mpg, should be good for reliability and parts are always availible.
I got a quote for one once that was £760 TPFT and £800 ish FC, thats based on 20 years old and 2 years NCB.

thinkin corsa 1.5 td because ill be staying with wot i know, hopefully get one in better nick, newer with less miles than most of the others, insurance should be ok, parts are cheap etc etc.
so hopefully a 1.5td sxi will be on my drive shortly...
