Basically I work for a fast food company and use my bosses car for delivering.
Now, hes only just took over the place, and he told me I WAS insured to drive his car for delivering. Me being trusting, I believed him.
Got pulled over a couple of weeks ago, and had to produce my documents.
So, I told him and he said 'hes checked and ur not insured' And then later said 'say u wasent drive so it puts the blame on me'. Now ive had a letter from the police saying im going to court if I dont hand the documents in, which i clearly havent got
What to do? get banned and loose my job? Any help appericiated.

You're not insured third party on other cars on your own policy?
If you weren't insured then you may need to just be honest and take it. Code is IN10, usually carries 6 points and £180.
Its not a ban and shouldn't mean losing your job.

Regardless of what you do I say you're likely to get banned from driving

Could he take his boss to court over 'miss-leading advice' or 'using your car for deliveries'

It would be a civil claim for damages, but you wouldn't get off the conviction. Its the drivers job to ensure that they are insured at the time they drive.

Depends on the insurer, some will give you it, others not.

Its difficult....
if part of your job is to do deliveries you would expect your employer to have you insured on the car you're meant to drive.
Surely it's his negligence

If it doesn't pan out any other way, go to court and plead your case.
They may be lenient given the circumstances

Some insurers won't cover you on other cars until you are 25. At the end of the day its your word against your bosses about the cover aswell.
Take the points and find a new job!

The case is fairly simple - you drove without insurance. I don't want to sound like a wise-ass here but I also don't want to cloud the two issues.
Whatever happens between you and the boss won't prejudice the case. If you want to sue him for putting you in that position then yes, give that a try. It is not however a defence in the motoring offence.
