Well after todays little antics and fun i may be forced to break up my corsa
It all began this morning, with a high speed blat along the bypass to work, come off the dual carridge way round the roundabout, down the road, round the next roundabout and onto the next bypass.... put my foot down.. revs go up, no speed, try 3rd, same.. pull over and the drivers side c.v joint has disintegrated.. crap..
Get towed to work, order a c.v joint and get the car on the ramp ready.. while i wait for all parts to deliver i decide to take a look at the car (somthing i tend to do every month to make sure everything is in order) and i find loads of stuff thats worrying me:
The fuel tank has started to leak
The fuel pump may be on its way out (keep getting vapour lock )
Passenger side front wheel bearing is on its way out
And to top it all off i found that the drivers side chassis leg is rotten as Fook Poxy vauxhalls and there rot from the inside out crap chassis legs..
All on top of the hydrocarbons in the coolant...
So i have decided it may be worth breaking the car rather than fixing everything wrong with it and then selling...
So say good bye to my corsa.......

get it welded up properly, say £150 for that
a wheel bearing is about £30
a new tank is about £40
a pump is £20-£30 2nd hand or buy my facet one??
and your done
£300 and the car is sorted,
as for the hydrocarbons, is it the head? get a new one? £50 for gasket set £150 ish for a head, and a timing belt kit, £80 with reollers etc
£500 to £600 will have the car sorted

the fuel tank leaking is always a possibilty wit most corsa's. i was told by the bloke who replaced mine that it happens alot in older vauxhalls.

Mine has had a tank and the legs welded.
Went in for paint and its also had more welding under the skirts, rustproofing and of course the visible rot which is the reason it was actually booked in there.
Its an old car!

Welding is common place on older cars, its something you Corsa owners are going to have to start to come to terms with I'm afraid.
