Some bloke I sold my Nokia 6100 to said he got the phone but whatever SIM card he tried, he has no reception, so I said to him OK send me the phone back and I'll give you a refund.
Got the phone today, put one of my O2 SIM cards in and surprisingly I got full reception...
He lives in Thatcham, and claims that he even drove down the M4 with it and still had no reception.
I'm unsure what to do at this stage... I have both the phone and his money, so the ball's in my court now, so to speak...

Obviously the phone isn't Thatcham approved then. Just keep it and his money as he's a tit.

Isn't there a button on eBay like the non paying bidder one, but "bidder is an arse" That could be handy.

Anyway what should I do - should I tell him I tried it here today and it works fine, and see what he says?

I just sent him this:
Hi,
I have received the phone today thanks and used a couple of O2 SIM cards I had spare in it, the phone gets 100% full signal and is fully functional.
The only thing I can think of is that you live somewhere with bad signal in general, the SIM cards you used are barred/blocked/dodgy, or there is some other reason entirely why you want to return the phone to me...
To be honest, I am reluctant to give you a full refund now due to the fact the phone is not faulty, and I now have to re-advertise this phone for sale, at my expense.
If you still want a refund, I am willing to refund you £23.99 minus £2.45 eBay/PayPal fees which I have incurred from the sale of the phone to you, bringing the total amount refundable to £21.54.
In addition, I will not leave you any feedback on the understanding that you leave me no feedback either, if you leave me negative feedback I will be forced to do the same.
Let me know your thoughts.
Regards,
Sam

His reply...
quote:
Hi,
The SIMs I have used are my work number sim (vodafone post paid), my brother's pre paid virgin sim, my wife orange pre paid sim and the office admin post paid O2 sim and a sim card from abroad.
The phone was tested at Thatcham, Reading, Theale and Oxford (the places I have been in these 2 days) and no where could find a signal, even when going to the phone settings menu, and trying to choose network manualy the error stating no network available is shown.
I bought the phone because I need one and as you can see from my feedbacks I'm not the one to return an Item just because, If it's returned it's returned for a reason, I will not leave you a feedback As you wish but I want a full refund (mainly because I have paid to send it back to you so it's only fair you will refund me for the price of the item + shippment - paypal ebay cost which sums at 25.04 - 2.45 = 22.59 GBP) Hope you agree to this.

The original advert had a pic of the phone with an O2 SIM card inside and the phone was on, showing full signal etc.

My reply:
Hi,
As I have previously stated the phone is not faulty, and I am only willing to refund you £21.54, that is £23.99 minus £2.45 eBay/PayPal fees which I have incurred from the sale of the phone to you, and in addition, I will not leave you any feedback on the understanding that you leave me no feedback either, if you leave me negative feedback I will be forced to do the same.
The P&P you paid for sending the phone back to me is not my problem at the end of the day, I never stated that I would pay your return P&P costs for you.
If you do not believe me when I state the phone functions as it should and is not faulty, that is down to you, I have no reason to lie to people about what I sell, if something works I say it works, if it doesn't, I say it's faulty.
Regards,
Sam
