Going to view an E36 M3 Evo this weekend, anything to look out for? Used to have a 328 coupe which was quick enough at 200bhp ...

the dual vanos is the main thing to watch for on the evos as if it goes wrong it your looking at around 2k if it fails on you. as long as its got full history and been serviced when it should be then it will run forever

82k is a nice milage for the evo engine, chances are the vanos system has been replaced and the engine would have loosen'd up alot and will go like stink! alot of the evo engines when new felt tight and werent making the 320bhp they should of been.

My mates got one

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j12/Euan_B/M3/DSC01851.jpg

Just make sure its been well service, watch for cooked 6-speed box on the Evo's aswell, we went to look at a Daytona Violet & the gearbox was gubbed, the bloke told us its meant to be like that

Gear changes will feel vastly different to your 328...so my mate said, total different car to drive!!

The 1st one we went to see had a bit of resistance changing up & my mate fluffed the change a few times *ccccccccccccrrrunch!!!* The bloke told my mate some pish about the clutch pulls & you have to change just right (he was pulling really slow changes) my guess was the synchromesh was on its way & would cost a fortune to repair!!?

I think its a heavier clutch & box needs more effort than the 328 if that makes any sense He says hes used to it now & it feels normal.
