Dad told me:

"Two cars went up the strip, then there was a big bang with smoke. both race teams + emergency crew went up. announcer said there was an accident and the police were called. then later said that a chap on the bank of grass at the right hand side had been hit in the stomach and killed by a piece of engine"

took dad 3 hours to get out of poddington

If anyone from Northants knows any info/news reports then post em up

I've had enough now TBH, takes the piss how little money there is spent on spectators and instead it fills the pockets of the owners. its dangerous for EVERYONE who attends

I would have thought that the pod would be responsible for making sure that spectators are safe at their events, but they might have some kind of disclaimer when tickets are purchased

i was under the impression the cars crashed and a bit went flying off.... if it was a problem with one car then there'll have to be investigation into team etc......

I thought this too.

How on earth can an engine part kill a spectator?

The car in the lane nearest the spectator had an engine blowout. the other car was fine.
