what break have people got out of them and what have they done to them and what break did they put them up by?

insurance reasons and a few chats with people made me think stick with her wait for a while

116bhp/96lb/ft from Pipercross Viper, Lexmaul inlet, janspeed manifold, decat, bfo system, and a chip.

but it was rubbish, better saving your money.

it wasnt as quick as a standard 1.6

personally i'd buy a sport, but yeah, you'd be better buying a 1.6, its far better.

i always regreted buying a 1.6 sport over a gsi, duno why mabee cus i was 18 and at 18 a gsi is a 'cool' car to have but although i had the skirts/bumpers etc i always had the nagging feeling i should have gone for the gsi. Also a couple of my friends had 1.4 sports and there wasnt alot in it

newer, better spec, lower mileage probably, better engine, (unless you get an X16XE gsi)

I know of a 170bhp (ATW!!) 1.4 16v, but that running throttle bodies.
1.4 16v engines were class leaders in rallying in the corsa.

They are great engines, its jsut for road use, the 1.6 will always be the better engine. The 1.4 seriously lacks torque, and that will carry on through tuning, it'll never be as good as the 1.6.

To be a little different (iff thats your thing), go with the 1.4, if you want a bit more, go with the 1.6..

Both will cost just as much as each other to tune.

yes.

my 1.6 was only 14bhp more, but it had a substantially better torque curve, and about 30lb/ft more... it was a completely different car to drive, so much better in gear, and pulling away.

I had a 1.4 16v with

264 cams
headwork
full exhaust
decat
cossie filter

dont do it biggest mistake of my life it was a pig to drive broke down loads and just wasa general waste of money as oerforamnce wasnt drastically improoved
