Been thinking for a few months about a new car. Quite like A3's 1.8T

Has any one driven one?

Robbos thread made me think about them again

Prefer the A3 over a golf.

1.8t is it 150bhp standard?

Revo will take it to about 210?

MR2 is getting boring now tho James.

Without sticking a turbo lump in it which will cost £3k upwards then it isnt that fun any more.

Its nice at the time of the year when the sun is out and roof off etc but in the winter i have to take it very easy or the arse end trys to play games like trying to over take me which isnt fun when your not wanting to play

Pre 2000 1.8t lump is 150bhp 160ft/lb

Revo will take it to 190bhp and 225ft/lb all for £499.

I personally prefer the interior of the Audi

Haven't driven one so dont know what they are like. Mates Golf 1.8T goes nicely now he has induction kit and large FMIC.

I have no idea! Does quite a bit of work to in since i bought it. tidied it up sorted out the paint work. Spotless now. New front bumper which was only painted 3 weeks ago. Brand new leather seats. T-Bar seals treated to stop them leaking. 4 new tyres, wheels need a refurb.

tidy tidy Rev 1's can go for 2.5-3k.

Mine has been updated with rev3 lights, rev 5 front side lights and indicators etc pager alarm with dual zone microwave sensor.

I know a man who will put a 3S-GTE in there for less than 3k...
he has plenty of donor cars laying around too...

trust me... simple mods and it would be 10x more fun than a remapped golf...

Obviously depends what you want chap...

he will fit a revision 6 thick-wall block, GT4 4-pots, and coilovers - if you pay for it

but realistically, for 2.5/3k, you would be looking at a revision 3 engine, a gearbox with LSD (late rev2 onwards?) and the suspension and brakes from any turbo.

Can be done with a rev 1 engine and box for cheaper... more like 1.5/2k

i think so, i am really tempted by a 1997 one near me, but it being 1997 puts me off as my corsa is the same
