Was out in my mates Golf with him last night. When he first got it it ran very badly and was a bit hesitant with loads of flat spots. Was quite slow too

The heads been rebuilt and its been serviced and its like a different car.

Couple of poor pics of his new wheels...

Its got electric Recaros out of a G60. They are really comfy, they are getting retrimmed as the pattern at the moment is a bit dodgy and the drivers side bolster has torn. Had a MK3 Golf dash fitted too as the MK2 Golf dash looks crap.

After that the next thing he's going to do is to get the bottom end rebuilt and bored out to 3.0 with uprated pistons and some other goodies

Other things to do are to fit the smoked crystal rear lights instead of just the crystal ones on there now and get the drivers side rear panel and quarter panel sprayed up as he came home one night after giving it a bit of stick put the handbrake on and went in the house. A bit later heard a smash and his car had rolled back down the road into a wall cos the rear discs must of cooled down and shrunk... bit of a pain as the rear quarter panel has been smoothed into the rear panel below the boot!

Its fairly quick as it is now. It just keeps pulling and pulling, ran out of road before it stopped pulling in 5th

He bought it like this for £1200

engine had only just been put in, wasn't running right, all the wires were untidy. but its been tidied up now with new leads, engine cover been put on etc. came with coilovers, electric Recaros wired in and working, MK3 Golf speedo, rev counter but not MK3 dash.

Think he has only spent a couple of hundred on the engine getting that sorted as his mate runs a company that specialises in tuning VW's. Porting and polishing was done for free. Polished Porsche wheels were £200 as the same mate had them lying round at his unit and wanted rid.

He wanted to Turbo it but once he's had the uprated pistons etc. done he is getting an emerald ECU and NOS instead. Its fast enough as it is IMO

I really like it. For me it would be fast enough as it is. I'd just get everything extremely tidy on it, have the seats retrimmed in leather and enjoy it.

But he wants more as usual

I am going to have some sort of VAG of the Turbo diesel variety next

Can't get a VR6, wouldn't be able to afford to put the petrol in with the miles I currently do
