a saxo vts

and

106 gti

they are both 120bhp

but the vts is .5 of a second faster up to 60!

why is this? just curious

Its meant to be, but I havn't seen a VTS beat a GTI on take off... ever... Could be down to driver ability though.

It's the same car, same engine, same everything but the badge and a few small cosmetic touches. Performance wise they are identical.

i would put it down to weight, pretty sure that the gti comes with leather interior on some models and the vts does not, probably some other weight differences somewhere

heard somewhere its to do with pegeuot doing their tests with full fuel tanks. gti is an insurance group less as well isnt it?

last week it was said on here that whilst testing the performance of the cars the GTi had more fuel and passengers to get it into a lower insurance group

its because by the time a vts hits 60mph, so many parts have fallen off it becomes lighter and therefore hits 60mph faster
