After some advice, want to get myself a decent bike (Used to do DH racing years back!) now after something to ride to my Dad's/football etc. Looking to spend £300 max really on 2nd hand bike - What can I get? Not really that clued up on normal bikes/x country bikes.

Had a Giant ATX-1 in my racing days & a Kona Stab to practice/race on short courses. Have had about 3 Konas and always liked those.
Never had a Specialized, can I get anything good 2nd hand for £300?

I've always liked Trek bikes. Used to always get 4 free services a year for life with the new ones as well.

I would like a bike to go to football training on. Silly to drive just round the corner
Let me know if you see anything good on the bay Nik.
Would like a mountain bike preferably but don't want to spend shoot loads, just something reliable and nice ish looking.

Yeah exactly the same Dave, my Dad lives 2 min drive away so it makes sense to just get a bike - Also live right by the downs and I'm getting annoyed at not making the most of the weather Found a few bikes on there so far, not sure what size I need though. I'm 5'11 so I guess 18'' but 18'' Konas are tiny.
Anyone got a good bike for £300 they wanna sell?

Something like that although I'd swap for hi-rise bars and some fatter tyres. Looks fairly decent spec.

what is decent spec? I don't have a clue when it comes to bikes
facied one of those bikes with the weird frame design, the top bar kinda goes into the rear at a different point.
Or are those bikes for chavs?

Saw that, would be perfect but looks a little small? Perfect for freeriding etc but I'll probably use it on tarmac/green lanes more than jumps etc

Cheers might pop to local bike shop and have a sit on a couple, reckon 19'' with saddle lower would be perfect

Is that ok for the money? Only 3 miles away thinking of offering £240 or something?

Here you go here is my bargain of the weekend
Obviously nothing like what your after but im likin it for the money.

Dont think its too bad myself.
Mostly Shimano Tourney, sram gripshift, promax brakes, v on the back disk on the front.
Not bad for £70
Got trigger shifters, different leavers, different bars, some Judy's, different pedals on order.

Yeh you should look for something made by Giant imo. I've just started working for a biking company (www.use1.com) who manufacture high spec parts for people like cannondale etc, and they highly recommend Giant.
