i have been trying to get back into it this year. Was playing on sunday in the pub golfing society

I play off of 16 ish

Was only 9 over after 16 holes
then i lost 2 balls on the 1 hole and took a 12 at a par 4

I am still playing with the clubs i got about 10 years ago

already got myself some new shoes and a new bag this year, maybe some new irons next year

I did play golf for about 7 years.

Played off 15. Then got fed up of it and started to go fishing instead.

Yep just started getting into it (used to play a bit for a laugh when I was younger).

Just got new clubs and bag myself need shoes now it's getting a bit expensive

Played one called brackenwood on sunday hit about a ton - par was 76 I think

TBF I dropped 3 balls in one hole aswell!

Me and a few mates started again about 8-9 weeks ago at the driving range and I feel like i'm hitting it better now, been experimenting with a few grips and stances etc but I need some lessons now I think

I've been playing for about 18mths now and my handicap has came down from 28 to 24 this season.

Extremely frustrating game but highly addictive and, as I have found, expensive when you start wanting new gear.

Me and a few lads in the local have started up a society which is great fun. We even have a 'Dick of The Day' Award to which the winner has to wear a Polo Shirt with it on the back at the next venue.

Did anyone of you lot have lessons? I seem to keep stepping back after my swing

BTW how do you record your handicap, do you need to be a member of a decent club?

I'm going to look into lesson's now I feel really addicted to it been going the driving range about 3 times a week and playing a round once a week lately probably not doing me any good though

My short game is my best bit, I keep bending my drives/wood shots in general to the right, i'm slightly better with my driving irons though

I bought a full set last year, trolley, bag, brolly, balls, tee's, 2 drivers, & a thingmajig to scoop balls out the water / bunkers - used them once!!

The old boy I played from work had the right idea - 3 clubs & putter + 9 bottles of beer, 1 for every other hole.....had to bundle him into the back of the van with the clubs after the game

I've found out how to get starting handicap it's not far off just requires an adjustment:

Not that difficult tbh.

you sound like my mate who has fads of buying things and using them once:

Decks - £500
Mini moto - £200
Petrol Remote Control car - £250

Used them all about once

Taking beers round sounds good

I have an overwhelming urge to get really good at this, something i've not felt about anything else for years

Bri, do you play for a particular club?
