Nearly every classic scooby i see always gives me a wave, which i think is quite a nice touch, not had this in any other car. its kind of like a brother hood, an acknowledgement that youll never have money because you have shares in your local shell garage and your always spending to keep your car running 
Saw a nice black EVO 8/9 wasnt sure which and got a wave which i thought was a nice gesture. Kind of like a mutual respect i guess, interestingly had an RX7 follow me for about 30 miles at normal speeds didn try to go past push me etc, usually the same with most jap performance cars to be honest.
Totally different ball game to when i had my corsas/ibiza cupra and every fucker tried to race me.

i've never had anyone try and race me for about 3 years

Folk in Jap crap tend to not bother racing eachother because they have 101.9 / litre on there mind!!!!
I got the scooby wave when I had mine aswell...found it a bit camp tbh, especially if I had gf / mates / parents / work mates in car!!

Some folk just arnt into cars at all & find it weird!! It would be like waving from your kitchen window to your neighbour because they have the same type of house to them I guess....some folk - they just dont get it!!
It didnt bother me, however i wouldnt instigate a wave....id just follow if I could be assed!!

you get the wave thing round here. no matter if your in a corsa, or another modded car, or even riding a push bike. people with the same type of transport waves back. quite annoying really

i get waves from beetles, campers, old 911's.... anything air cooled when driving the 911 
Get it a lot with th eimpreza, and get it a fair bit with the supra..... never much with the skyline though
