Does this problem with North Korea test firing missiles scare anyone else?
The fact that a nuclear war can be started by a single phone call from U.S president George Bush. That coupled with the fact that he and his administration have the typical American attitude of "we're the best" wont help things either.
And with the Korean Government (if thats what it is) saying "We're are ready for any security threat from the U.S or any other nation"
Just wondering about anyone else's views on it

its not a major problem anyway, they've had nuclear capabilities for years, they've just not made it publically known.

They are even more primitive than the V2 rocket Germany had 61 years ago
Worried? No not at all.

you mock the V2, but the technology was amazing. a pulse detontation engine 65 years ago? genuinely amazing
NASA have started using them now, to test the possibilities of hypersonic flight, so in nmy book, the V2 was an incredible invention
as a bomb, it was crap though

Perhaps you miss the point that the V2 had a max horizontal range of about 200 miles and wasn't guided post launch?
The issue with the North Koreans is that the missile can reach american soil (albeit Alaska) and the ramifications if China gets involved in a US/korean spat

i dont see why it having a range of 200 odd miles and it not being guided post launch discounts it as a brilliant invention
the propulsion system was way ahead of its time

Are NASA using that technology though?
Im no expert but i would have thought (since they've had the stolen technology since 1945) they would have used it by now?
I just read a very interesting paper on the V2, which spoke of the scud missiles being based on the V2.....so before its time most definitely
As far a tactical weapons go though, range is the key

NASA have been testing the technology for use in the future
the fastest 'plane' ever built, used what is essentially a pulse detonation engine. it hit Mach 9.1
they've only just let the public know they've been using it, back in 1998 i think, but they've probably been using it a lot longer, since they worked out a way of making it work over a longer distance than zee germans ever could
google "aurora project" that (although it hasnt officially been announced) alledgedly used a PDE

rob, Boeing X43 actually reached mach 9.8, but it is both unlandable and unmanned, so its practically a rocket.
fastest manned aircraft is still the X15 with mach6.7

I cant say it worries me.
I think some countries should be given some freedom to test as they feel.
North korea have been asked to stop developing necluer chemicals (fuels) for what they are saying is for necleur power plants and the us government want them to stop?
it wasnt that long ago the US government was doing this themselves!
Its one thing testing your missiles on your land, and another gassing million of civilans like saddam.

Rob, I'm not mocking the V2 at all, it is the father to all missiles now, and was used albeit in modified form to get man to the moon.
If the Germans had not built this and had Braun, the designer not gone to USA in Project Paperclip in the 40's and 50's we would'nt have been on the moon in 1969 I can assure you of that.
It was a V2 rocket fired from Cap Gris Nez in 1944 that killed my two aunties and my great grandmother, badly scaring my nan and grandad in the process.
