not much!! best case scenario it will need 2 valves + guides headgasket + belt + rollers + waterpump prob about £400

It may have bent many more valves and damaged the head, pistons a rod?

can get a complete new engine for less than that. would have the cost of fitting tho.

cheapest way is to get another engine from the scrappy and fit that. shouldnt cost more than £500 fitted for a good one

haha theres no chance of a valver.. insurance would laugh in my face.

It was the top end of first gear, went to change into second and it jst went.

Knew straight away what it was.

So if it was new engine time how much would that cost all in for the engine and fitting?

Cheers again.

Not good mate, a new engine will be cheaper than getting it repaired.

buy a engine from breakers.... fit that.... maybe a 1600 16v

Then strip and see how bad yous is... anycase the new engine will be cheaper than p[aying someone to fix the broken one

I would just get the same engine again from a scrappy. If its your first car and you say insurance would laugh at a 2.0, I'm guessing you havent been driving very long. So changing the engine to a bigger one would be pointless, insurance companies will always charge more for a car with a different (non standard spec) engine in. Should be able to sort it reasonably cheaply with another engine of the same type. My dad had a focus in his garage a few weeks back with a snapped camelt - that cost the owner £450. It needed 8 valves. Not the same car obviously so may be totaly out though

Well my dad spoke to one of his mates today who hes used a lot as he owns a garage.

He said he'd fix it for 500 for us but itll take a wee while because he'll be doin it in between other jobs to keep the price down..

I thought it was going to be more expensive than that to be honest.. but meh i jst want it fixed now!

Dont appreciate bein able to drive until you've no car

i also did this in my old 1.4 16v, slowing down to a corner at about 15mph, 15 valves fucked and piston and head damage. Even after it was fixed it was never the same again, i ended up putting a new engine in it!!!

did your dads mate take the head off? if not then how can he see the extent of the damage? if a conrod is bent then it could have damaged the crank and the bore or piston and then the £500 will becone a lot more......
