Basically, I had a clutch fitted by mr clutch about 9,000 miles ago - and less than a year ago and when I have mates in my car, or do standing launches (i.e. 1/4 mile the other day) it slips, and once it starts slipping it'll slip the whole way up the strip in every gear giving me really crap times.

The clutch is covered on a 20,000 mile - 2 yr warrenty. So took it to mr.clutch to get them to check it out, they drove it and said it wasn't slipping at all.

This figures as under normal driving it doesn't really slip, only if you accelerate hard on your own, or have a car full of people.

The problem is, considering I've tuned up my car for a reason - Track Days / Quarter miles. It is currently useless for the one thing I want my car to do. So I need a new clutch, how much death will I have to give the current one to get it to slip like a bitch so I can take it to mr.clutch and complain?

Anyone got any tips for knackering clutch, and nothing else?

If I blow this clutch up and mr clutch says no way we're replacing it, it's still ok - as I'll put a proper helix clutch in or something decent. Either way I want this clutch f*cked and out, so I can get a new clutch in (as at the moment it's shit for 1/4 miles etc).

So the question once again - how much death do you have to give a clutch to get it to go from slight slipping to full on slipping?

For this reason I doubt I'll bother with PVS now.

It shouldn't be needed. It's just mr.clutch messed it up at the start - I remember finding one of the bolts half hanging out which I think was causing excessive wear early on.

Though I was talking to my mate and they said mr.clutch will use a cheaper weaker alternative to the proper clutch it should have from pug.

Complete wank though - was unable to launch it properly on the 1/4 mile, some of my times were like 17-18 seconds with the amount of clutch slip!

Do a few first gear rev limiter launches, ride it all the time, keep it in gear at traffic lights etc. Should be dead in no time.

hold it on the handbrake and launch it, will make it slip like buggery, do it when its warm tho....

they will howeevr say if the car is modified to produce more power then they wont offer a warentee and youll be left standing the bill again. so make sure it looks standard

clutch is probably fine, but is too weak now to take the extra power.

Get a stronger one in there

I'd put in a better clutch - but I don't want to replace a clutch that's working half-fine, especially if I can get it replaced under warrenty

Paul, park the car up and select 5th gear with the handbrake on.

Rev the engine to about 2k and bring the clutch pedal up until it's starting to bite, keep the revs up and the clutch slipping.

Do this for a couple of minutes or so and then road test the car, repeat as necessary until the desired ammount of slippage is achieved.

It shouldn't take long as this is the most surefire way of wearing out the friction material.

Keep the windows and vents closed and the fan off though, as the stench will be atrocious.

Whats the point in killing the clutch? you take it to Mr Clutch and he replaces it with a similar standard clutch and bingo bango you have the same problem again?

Paul you should know you are going to need an uprated clutch if you want to do decent launches etc... with it.

but when the clutch was fitted I only had 120 bhp

I was hoping this clutch may just be slipping coz it was a tad knackered. So getting my 'free' under warrenty replacement from mr clutch will give me another 10,000 miles of driving before needing to get a proper clutch

It does seem a slightly pointless exercise Paul.

Mr Clutch will bodge it and use a piece of filth that will be inferior to OE parts.

Treat yourself to a nice AP unit and fit it yourself or have it done by a proper garage.

Clutch clinics are cheap for a reason mate.
