but imo it was a bit unfair and maybe he could contest it? we were down a road which was completely empty in front of us, the cop car was hidden completely behind some bushes, and the copper ran outta the bush and stood in the middle of the road and made us stop. now tbh, a lot of people think the whole road is a 40...
it isnt, but the first part of the road is a 30, and then it turns into a 40, we were about 20 meters from the 40 zone...
now the copper said there was nothing around to make you think anythin other than it being a 30, but imo there kinda was cause the only sign around was a 40 sign 20 meters down the road, and also theres only a few houses on the left, and just a big field on the right. he was caught doing 44, but im sure youre allowed 10% over aintcha? so if we could somehow get around saying he thought that part of the road was a 40, hed be okay right.
i dont need people telling me he shouldnt of been speeding in the first place etc, cause i know this already, i just think its a bit unfair as we were around 10 seconds from hitting a fucking 40 zone and there were no cars in front! and the way the cops were hidden seemed out of order and tbh i just think they were bored, wankers...

I see where your coming from mate but i doubt it will stand up IMO.
Your only meant to be doing 40 AFTER you are in the 40 zone, plus the fact that even if you was in the 40 zone he was still speeding as he was doin 44.

The 10% is to allow for calibration errors on the guns.
Long and short of it he was doing 44 in a 30.
A great deal of scameras are in a place where a 40 goes to a 30...
the police have targets to hit after all

mate believe me he doesn't stand a chance I got points a couple of weeks back for the same thing bout 10 yards from a 40 zone but you're supposed to speed up after the sign, and if the only sign about was a 40 one, it means it was a different speed limit untill that point

so he was braking the law ? the 40 road was 20 meteres away, if the 40 road was 20 meters closer he wudnt have been braking the law for speedin lol

You haven't really provided enough details about the alleged offence to get any worth while answers. Since your friend 'aint even too bothered' i would recommend you adopt the same attitude..

thing is though theres no signs saying 30, so seeing as though a 40 sign is the only one in on the road, you could of quite easily thought that sign was for the whole road!?

Why would there be a sign in the middle of a whatever limit telling you that was the limit?
Do you regularly see 30 signs while driving in town?

no but what im saying is that if the only sign on the entire road said 40, what would you think the limit was?
