OK, open emails this morning and amongst the orders off our site is one for 2 cars, total with out postage is £370.
One of them is out of stock so I try to ring the bloke, no answer, so send him email instead. He replies in minutes saying that one of the other cars I have in stock is fine.
Was just about to close email down and go start boxing it all up etc, when I realise that the name at the top of the email is different to the name on the order.
Now I have all his details etc but I am a bit concerned that the email address is registered to darren but the order is from chris
I emailed him asking who to make invoice out to because of the names. If he doesnt reply he doesnt get his cars.
I would rather keep them on the shelf than potentially send them to some one using iffy card and lose the £370.......

He emailed back saying,
'I sorry but I do not have my own e-mail address so I use my flat mates, however I dont understand why it should matter, does the e-mail address have to be in my name?'
but its a Yahoo account that surely anyone can use.............

Ask for a landline number for confirmation.

Yeh I have his credit card. As soon as I have an authorisation code off the machine, the money is mine. However if the card is stolen and not cancelled yet, it will go through but I will be responsible for that £370 when the bloke who's card it is gets the bill. Hence where my problem lies.

Jamie, it seems ok. My mum doesn't have her own personal email as she never uses it. She's ordered stuff off the net before, and used my email as correspondence, and her name as delivery.

The fact he didnt answer his phone is whats getting to me, yet he replied to the emails pretty quick. Having said that you can access Yahoo anywhere cant you?

he porobably doesnt have an email account, and saw these items on your website, wanted them, and asked to borrow his mates email for that one occassion. Could be a number of reasons why he didnt asnwer his phone, was it a mobile?

Ring the card company and run a check on the card rather than using the authorisation terminal jamie.

Just phone up Streamline or whoever authorises your credit cards. They will give you authorisation and tell you if the details are correct.

Yeh I spoke to them. I did what Sam and Ed suggested. They just said, card cant be authorised. So they are aware.
Luigi, customer has not replied to my email I sent saying.....
Your card was declined. I can’t send the cars out.
Give me a call 01202 789*** if you want to discuss.

When you phone up Streamline or whoever they take appropriate action and will cancel the card if it's being used for fraud. It's not Jamies job to do that, he's already informed them that he thinks something up by calling for authorization and thats all he needs to do.
We used to get stuff like this at work all the time. People would come in and try and buy about £200 worth of mobile phone vouchers and cigarettes. Wouldn't sell it to them because the cards were all stolen.
