Right I was just wondering what peoples experiences are when it comes to insuring corsa B's with engine swaps....
How much more is it to insure a LET over an XE?
i will be 20 with 2 years NCB

well an XE corsa is group 16, an LET corsa is group 20 (i'd imagine as the calibra turbo is group 19)
So quite a bit more to insure the LET!
probably pay around £1200-£1400 for an XE

Yeah I was expecting around that sort of price for the XE...
Was just wondering if it was going to be stupid money for the LET over the XE which it sounds like it will be 
Also how reliable are XE corsas?

Whats the reliability like on XE corsas?
And how much would I have to pay for a very good condition one? i.e one thats had a proper conversion with the correct shafts etc...
I assume they would be prone to CV problems etc?

Basicly it wouldnt really be a daily driver except maybe a 2 min drive to and from uni if its pissing down with rain....
But would only really be used for going to and from home which is 110 miles away through the welsh hills...
Sound like it would be reliable enough?

as daily driver's they're fine... i pay 867 quid fully comp, thats running carbs though 0 ncb, no points and a crappy postcode
i also run standard corsa GSi driveshafts and outer cvs... seen loads of abuse and still all works perfect

Mine was my daily driver 
So long as you get new sensors and a good condition loom allround and you maintain it you should have no problems

Anyone on here with a nice corsa looking at selling around that time?!
What sort of price should I pay for a nice reliable one? I dont want body kits or anything..Ideally I would like speedlines and a GSi kit thats it!

There is shit loads mate... there going for around 2-2.5k on ebay...
make sure you get loads recipts and dont buy of a skally lol!!!
Marks astra LET on MNR looks good

Doubt I can afford to insure/run/service a LET
Also going from a 12 volt to a XE corsa is going to be a huge step anyway!!

brentacre is by far the best inurer for XE'd corsas that I found.

i found myself fixing my car everyother weekend, took a good year to get it running well. Then i sold it when it was going great 
personally would have never bothered as the power isnt that special at all TBH. XE taht is. LET is another ball game, totally gives u the grin

if you fit it carefully and make sure its right they aret unreliable. The problem is most folk do them with small outer cvs, 85+k wheel bearings, leave the std bushes and fit a suspension kit and then fit new brakes. All the problems they get are the old parts they left in the first place.

i have to say my 92 xe engine is fantastic reliability has bin second to none and it gets bounced of the limiter daily i love it they are tough as old nails.
i use mine everyday and only problem ive had is a 14year old hose split on fuel line really that aint bad is it, engine management light has never come on and car has not put foot wrong yet.
xe is best engine ive owned, i owned a 1.4 16v which was rigged with problems only 27k on clock and swopped it for 1.6 and that had various probs like idle valve,secondary pump failing, tapping, air leak list goes on
both my small block engines were very low mileage and they were crap, but thats not to say there al bad i can only give my experiences.

i had an xe for a a while and it never ever put a foot wrong, as said above the only problems people get are the old 70-80-90k bushes bearings that jus give up! its no the enigne or shafts etc fault! they are great engines, good cheap reliably fun

have you thought about a v6 corsa? a completely different feeling than an xe and a bit different to what you usually see. U2U me if you want more info.
