got a phone call from a mate earlier, telling me he's bought a new car
obviously i asked him what it is, he tells me that its an escort
my next question was "is it new or old?", and he says old, so i'm thinking, "ace, hes got a mk2"
confused by my own lust for a mk2, i ask him what model, and he says 'mexico', so i'm thinking, "the bastard, i want one
i ask about colour, and he tells me its blue..... this rings a few alarm bells, as i wasnt sure i'd ever seen a blue mk2 mex
and lo and behold, hes gone and bought a mk6 'mexico' probably THE worst bit of badge engineering ever
i have no pics, cos i was laughing at him so much, but imagine dave17s new one, in a sort of arden bluey colour
my mate is now known as idiot boy.

@ Robin. mate, give him grief.
As soon as you said Mexico, I knew what was coming.
I remember when these came out.
I was about ready to burn a Ford dealer down, I was so outraged.
They are terrible aren't they.
Almost as bad as putting the RS1800 badge on a Fiesta, or, for that matter any RS badge on anything FWD.

Dont agree with that statement, I see your point about the RS1800, but I disagree about RS Turbo's. Which is what I think you were getting at. Even funnier that you own one! In joke perhaps?
So whats your opinion on 4x4 Saph Cossies and Escort Cossies?

I think Sierra Sapphire Cosworths and Escort Cosworths are absolutely lovely Marc.
I would have been the proud owner an Ebony black 'H' plate Sapphire by now if the seller hadn't pulled out of the deal after i'd organised a loan and insurance and a lift to pick the car up. He did it the day before I was due to collect it aswell.
I'd like to think i'll have one eventually as i've been looking for a suitable canditate for about ten years now.
I will have an Escort Cosworth one day too.
However, any vehicle that drives it's front wheels only, is not, in a million years, worthy of wearing an Escort badge, never mind an RS badge.
My car wears neither an Escort or an RS badge, and hasn't done so for many years, and never will again.
I doesn't even get referred to as an Escort or an RS either.

and rightly so.
RS should have been for RWD only, and it should mean "really slidy"
then ST should be for gay fwd cars, and should mean "stupid transverse"

regarding the rs turbo badge on a nescort, seeing what they are caperble of achieveing i have no problem with an rs badge on one....... i used to hate them, but since working with a rs tuning legend i have new found respect for them.
the mexico badge is wasted on anything other than an old rwd escort however

rs1600, rs1800 and rs2000 badges are not fit for any FWD car, focus RS isnt a true RS, and the RST's are still WWD, even if they are quick
