would taking the old engine out my self help at all?
Incuding things like breaks, suspension and what ever else it would need!

Dont think ahead that far cos not long after i turned 17 i wanted an mx5 (i know, i know) , when its nearer the time you realise the cost of things and realise that you give insurance companies a laugh when you phone them, i struggled and that was with a 1.6 gsi and thats me just turned 18 on thursday there!!

with brakes ans suspension, id say buget about £2500 but have some more spare...... having said that id go for the better quality stuff.....

corsa gsi driveshaffts (pleanty strong enough for 2.0 power and no messing with hubs) £40
mk2 cav inner cv's £60
lmf 2.0 shortshift gear linkage £70
2.0 16v brakes if you havnt got them £70
xe inlet adaptor plate and x20xe inlet hose £35
complete engine (from ebay there are loads for sale regularly for this price) £200
rebuild bits for engine cambelt oil etc £100
cut and shut standard exhaust manifold onto standard exhaust free
fit engine yourself free
