Im curious, as to whether im too old fashioned or not.
When your living at home, once your 18, should you always (still)abide by your parents rules no matter what so long as you live under their roof i.e if your parents didnt want you to have a house party every friday night you wouldnt, or they dont want you up watching TV till 2am every morning you dont, or they dont want you ordering take away 4 times a week you dont.
Or are you in believe that when you turn 18 thats it, you can do what the hell you like (within reason, nothing silly).

if watching till 2am was keeping someone up then yes you should obey.
I believe that by living in my mums house i need to obey her rules, and try to help out as much as possible.

Im 18 and still live my parents, they always say i have to obey by their rules but they dont have any really, but i do try to do as they say!

As Willay said, my mum/step dad used to be slightly stricter but are giving me a lot of slack right now due to my commitments with Uni/Swimming and of course my part-time job
Is their roof, and time comes for me to have my own home/kids I would expect them to do exactly what I say when I ask and not go being some moron of a rebel

are you of the opinion that you should abide by your parents rules (i.e they wish you not to do something.. you dont do it).
Or do you do what you want, when you want how ever you like, even if its against your parents 'rules'

I'm not 18 yet I'll be 17 in May, but I do live with my parents. There's me and my brother who's 19. We do abide with the house rules most of the time, but when they're away on holiday or out for the night etc  :
Come to think of it......................they never seem to go out anymore, I wonder why?

Im 18, living at home, I'd say i'm fairly independant at home, and have scope for doing as i wish, eg..getting in late (as long as i let my mum know as she worries) watching tv late...however i am aware that there are others in the house and i wont take the piss or make life difficult for my parents. i do little in the way of helping around the house, but I pay some money every month and get what i pay for.

I think you have to live by their rules, but I'd expect these rules to be slightly relaxed than when you were younger. As in if you want to stay up till 2 watching tele then you can if your not keeping the whole house up. etc. etc.
I lived at home until I was 19 1/2 with just my mum and she was fairly good with rules. I wasnt allowed massive parties and such, but if I pretty much left to do what I wanted other than that aslong as I didnt disturb others living there.

Same in my house. Not any rules set out but as long as I dont take the piss then I can do pretty much as I please.
My bro on the other hand does take the piss, he treats it like a hotel and rolls in at daft hours at night then talks on the phone to his gf that has he has just been to see. He sees her every night yet he still has to talk to her on the phone when he gets back from her house and I usually wake up cos I can hear him  Hes 17 and never lets my Mum know if hes gonna be late back or if he is coming back at all so my Mum worries and has sleepless nights quite often

I left home when i was 20 - 21. Probably the best thing i ever did although it gets so boring on ya own.
My parents didn't really like me bringing mates home, but didn't mind me coming back hammered once in a while. Think that's just weird. Could watch TV until all hours, empty the fridge etc and they didn't really care.
Just wasn't happy at home, way my parents are and things are even worse for my sister now she's left on her own.
