Here are a few pictures of my mates Saxos.

one is R1 powered (roof chop) and the other is hayabusa powered (still finishing off)
The R1 Saxo will do 0-60 in around 4, and maybe even high 3's in the right conditions and right gear change's.
We would like to take the car to a Saxo or some other shake down day to get some stats and show people what the cars can do.

Feel free to look at are Saxo on the web site (being updated at the moment)
http://www.jmaautomotive.co.uk/
http://www.jmaconversions.co.uk/

I will add my mate owns JMA and this is not just a kit for Saxos they can convert any small hatch Cars (Corsa, Saxos, 106 etc etc)

We are doing a track day on the Tue 23rd May at Oulton Park everyone is welcome to come and see that car and take a ride to see how the car will perform and handle, i am sure it will suprise alot of people

(before people say anything the car is not ZCars)

P.S Corsa Vs Saxo Day

traction is outstanding and handle really well around the track. just look at the 0-60 times.

we took the saxo to total Kit car show and took it on the track plus taking people out for a ride, and it suprised alot of people

as for cost, well every build is differant, but i would say not much more that a LET conversion.........

Traction? Rear wheel drive - under acceleration all the weight of the car goes back and pushes the wheels into the ground. Theoretically.

Most kits I have seen like these cost around £5k. Most people say a ball park price for a conversion is around £10k. Though I think it could be done for much less than that.

i total agree mate but again its all down to peoples specs.
as for against a LET Corsa, well i have been on the saxo and a number of LET corsa and can say the Saxo is quicker and plus the added it will handle on a track

Though one thing people seem to keep on forgetting to do with a bike engine conversion... CVT (Constant Variable Transmission)...

both are fully road legal.
you may notice the R1 Saxo is on a Q Plate BUT the only reason for this is the roof chop. The Hayabuse is MOT'ed and runs a standard plate.

Eh...

They're only 1 litres aren't they?

Why not just stick a LET in, bet it's cheaper and more reliable. Probably quicker aswell....?

how bigs your wallet
i have seen 500bhp Busa Turbos.
BUT i will say just go in one of the saxo and 99% of people would be happy with the power then provide and give on the road.

as i have put we are doing a track day, people are welcome to come and take a ride.
i will be taking pictures and video'in the saxo all day, so will be online aswell.....

power to weight
R1 engine is about 130bhp and weight nothing, plus RWD

Quickest Corsa 0-60 to date is 4.9 and the saxo will easy run faster than that, PLUS the added factor the engines are standard.....

I know of somone who has an Ultimate (I think?) kit car with an 800cc bike engine in it. It is group 2 insurance. He pays about £100 per year for it apparently.

These conversions are easy enough to insure as you basically have yourself a kit car

Ah fair enough, not a bike man

Would be nice to have the revs of a bike in a car! What do they rev to, 10k?

This is what you need to do though... CVT + an LSD Its sriously fast. Engine sits at high RPM and the gears change themselves...

You basically mash the transmission of a snowmobile with the transmission of a motorbike then a few car parts too...

the Basic idea of this is, you dont need to run a Bike engine you can run any engine you want ie

C20XE
C20LET
Civic Type R (which they are starting to build now)
etc etc

People who are looking into LET conversion into Corsa maybe a good thing to look into these and look at the advantages and disadvantages......
