just watched a very good mate of mine go through the whole application, interview and training and has just finished the first week on the job

its a job iv ALWAYS wanted to do, my one sorta dream in life. Got the letter this mornign about my interview and hour after my aunt died, so I'm goina try my best and do it for her!
Kerry, can your mate give any advice for the interview etc? How long does the training last?

Wheres it stationed at? The middlesbrough one would be a nightmare to work for. Too many cheeky chavs about here.

to be honest i wasnt expecting to get past the application, closing date was 30th march so id pretty much given up! was just saying to nath last night that i dont think iv got it so was goina start job hunting today!

Not as far as i know, the areas i mentioned ^^^ where il be stationed are all my area, some only 5 mins from my house

No thats wrong. My Dad was the local bobby at a village we used to live in. Police station was joined onto our house

to get through the interview is the hardest part - you will need to be on your toes and well prepared

you will be well advised to look at what the police are doing at the min - different operations they may be doing to target drugs and also the key aims of the force.

also you will have to show that you have no steriotypical views of any person - and that you judge every1 the same etc - as you can not show any form of discrimination.

during the interview dont be surprised if they jump on a reply you give for instance

its a test to see how you respond to pressure and also how you will respond to being confronted.

also remember being in the police nothing is straight forward - if u dont think outside of the box - u aint right for the job. so always be willing to show you have thought through options when asked about events etc.

finally - be smart as appearence counts a lot

finally be confident in yourself

Guy I used to know lives in Slough but works for the Met, couldn't work in Slough apparently (not sure why he didn't join Thames Valley Police though).

I wanted to join gateshead but the oppurtunity was for durham constabulary. still though its the job iv always wanted so goina give it my all
