found out over the last few days that i have had £600 taken from my account, which wasnt me

did all the normal stuff, phone bank, freeze card etc

found out they had also tried to tke a further £300 out but the fraud deapartment had noticed this beeing strange and blocked my card for me
all these transactions happend in hemal hempstead, which is far enough away from bromley i would say to show it wasnt me

only thing which did'nt inspire any confindence is the fact they said i "should" get the money back

surely as it wasnt me, and the fact a transaction shows i was in bromley that day paying for some bits etc then surely "should" shuld'nt come into it

this happened to a mate, and i'm not sure if he got the money back, as they couldn't prove it wasn't him as it wasn't on CCTV. If he did get it back i think it took ages to be sorted out. Im guessing it was a debit card?

i work in the fraud office of a bank, the reason they say should is because they have to investigate to make sure it wasnt you or you werent negligent with your card/pin number. ie if you kept your card and pin number together and someone nicked your wallet with them both in and used your card you wouldnt get your money back as you've broken the terms and conditions of your account

This happened to me on holiday in wales. someone used my card in the same day in nottingham, they knew it was fraud as it was a huge amount, then refunded it.... i didnt even find out until i got my next bank statement. they'd refunded the money and sorted the fraud without having to tell me

Somone tried to buy a car on a a cloned credit card of my Dad's... This was after quite a few other un-usual transactions on this cloned card, luckily the card was blocked and the Police were tracking it so the fuckers got caught. He got his money back, but now if he even tries to buy a pack of gum on the blody thing his card company phones him up to make sure no ones trying to nick money off him

if it was withdrawn from an abbey ATM, then they should have CCTV footage of it at the time it was taken, proving it wasnt you

They aren't supposed to give guarentee's as if something was to go wrong with your claim, you can take action against the advice given by that particular worker, don't read too much into it, you will get your money back, happened to me in 2005, someone tried raping me for £3,500 by hacking an internet business I'd bought shares in, therefore gaining details etc.... but the bank rang me asking me if I'd visited Frankfurt lately which I answered no, and it was stopped.
Only thing is you have to mess about getting new cards
