How much would a second hand mk5 golf gti retail at?
Has anybody got any idea?
Im going to pop down to VW this weekend but was just wondering what kind of prices i should be looking at

depends on the spec tbh, on out forecourt anything from £18000 upwards

yeh, but we are a franchised dealer.. dont forget the gti is £20000 for a basic spec one.. a well specced one with the leather, 18's etc etc is closer to £25000 new..

at colindale, the cheapest one in our group at the mo.. (i work at chalfont)
£19,990
not cheap yet they are still quite sought after as they are good fun cars..

cant say what the vxr is like, but i would own a gti.... and that is saying somthing for a person who works on dubs day in day out
oh, and a random fact about the gti ... they are designed to tend towards oversteer rather than understeer

yeah i agree the build quality of the VW is better and they will hold they're price better than the vxr,
what about performance stats / looks / interior / comfort etc....

There aren't going to be many people that have driven both the VXR and GTi to be able to make a good comparison.
I would go for the VXR though cos its a fair bit quicker and looks loony

no its not main concern, my main concern is to find the best car for the money 
ie - comfort, performance, mpg etc...

try them both out, no one can tell you which you will prefer driving more or find comfortable.
Cars depreciate but vws hold the price well and vxrs are not 10 a penny so will hold quite a good price too.
Mpg varies on how often you use the car, motorway drivinng etc

dont use the car very much at all really so i suppose mpg doesn't really matter as much.
Suppose i will have to have a look around locally.
It might be hard to find a vxr anyway as wasn't there a limited number made?

i havent driven a vxr, but sat it one
but would deffo have the gti over a megan 225
