i went for a weekend to do a job.
stayed at a quality hotel right on the edge of a cliff looking out to sea. was great.

didn't get much of a chance to go out during the day and i really wanted to go up the rock, but had a couple of nights out.
We were right by the border, so went into Spain for dinner and up the coast a little to marina village.

flight is good. there's ace views over the sierra nevada as you'r nearing destination, and the runway is completely comical.

I'd happily go again.

Stunning view with balcony onto the sea... cant wait!

Gonna be awesome.

Pics look great mate!

I heard about the runway.... they close the nearby street dont they as the planes fly over it?

the runway cuts across the main road, so traffic is stopped when a plane comes or goes. They have men stood at a tiny barrier.
also trhere's sea at one end of the strip, and sea at the other end too. not one you'd want to overshoot.

that bottom pic there is from the airport bar balcony looking across the runway.

i didn't get many pics of anything interesting. i'll upload a couple more in a while.

here's a couple from google earth.
first shows how the runway is wider than the country and the road runs straight across it.
the spanish border is just where the orange buildings are by the big road that runs west-east
second pic is the whole island. note the tankers out at sea. there's an oil refinary on the coast of spain and the oil tankers just sit and wait untill they're called.

as far as i know it used to be an island and they reclaimed part of the sea to join it back to the mainland. quite interesting stuff.

Seriously Rob, no joking mate.

Macaque monkeys roam free on Gibraltar.

They are tail-less and incredibly tame.

They nick food and all sorts from the tourists, so you have to be realy careful.

I believe they have a sweet tooth, so if you are taking any gingerbread men with you, i'd keep them out of reach.

That looks scary

Also surely if you get 1 nutter in his car when the road is open he could just do a left or right and drive up the runway
