They range from 150bhp to 250bhp, due to a variety of different turbos.
The larger turbos can be remapped to about 280bhp and 280lb/ft with no other changes.
The smaller ones remap to around 200bhp and 200lbft.
Not sure on prices, check eBay.

well the idea is floating around about the possibility of transplanting one into a 206 ... i've recently seen a foreign 206 with a 2.3 16v turbo honda engine in it
a few people have mentioned the vag engine though

Sounds interesting, no idea on engine prices but if they go wrong then they can cost a lot to fix. As Simon stated above though, good power can be had for little money. AGU engine code is widely regarded as best version to tune

The last of the Audi TT Quattros called the "Sport" was 240PS. Near enough.

The old S4's were a 2.7 bi-turbos and the new ones are 4.2 V8's.

Indeed. Ideally you want a low mileage one but if yer after an AGU engine (which id recommend) then you want one from an A3 1997/98 or golf of similar age. 150 bhp standard, about 200bhp on a remap. Could go for a later one with VVT and see 220bhp from a remap too tho.

The 225bhp TT's, S3's and Leon Cupra R's all came with the larger turbo and 2 IC's. Remap to around 270bhp.
Although supposidly the early Golf engines are stronger. Pfft, dunno why.

I *think* its something to do with larger ports, someone mentioned it a while back on audi sport. Not 100% sure tho

right this is probably going to sound stupid but here goes...
with it being an engine from a completely different marque of vehicle do you think there will be major problems with the loom, ecu etc? also with actually getting transmission to work?

I've got an AYP 1.8 20v Turbo 180bhp in my Ibiza Cupra-R. Only comes with the smaller k03 turbo so your better off starting with one that has the K04 (leon cupra-r, Audi S3).
Another good reason to stick with the Veedub or Audi engine is the Seats like mine tend to have over an complicated ECU. Mine for instance has an N249 valve to help control boost which the earlier engines in the golf etc don't have because basically it's not needed. Coil packs and MAF's are the weak link and can go at anytime whereas the engine and internals are known to be very reliable and can go for 200k and handle 300+bhp

if it financially viable could get an AUQ lump which runs a K03 and stick a K04 on it 2nd hand

yeah maybe but then you'd have to source a K04 and all the oil feeds and manifold. IMO you'd be better off with the AGU k04 equipped engine to start with
